Assassination Attempt on Congress MLA’s Son Thwarted

Shivamogga: In a shocking development, authorities have uncovered a conspiracy to assassinate Basavesha, son of Bhadravati Congress MLA B.K. Sangameshwar, according to various media reports.

The plot, allegedly orchestrated from within a prison, has sent shockwaves through the local political circle.

The main conspirator is identified as Dicchi Mubarak, currently lodged in an another case. Mubarak allegedly contracted the hit, instructing perpetrators to carry out the killing at Gandhi Circle in Bhadravati. Reports suggest Mubarak purchased a knife and dispatched four individuals in a car to execute the plan.

-A contractor named Sunil, privy to the plot, alerted Bhadravati police on August 19. Bhadravati Old Town police station has registered an FIR and launched an investigation. Tipu, one of the alleged hired assassins, has been arrested and is under interrogation. Four other suspects are also named in the case.

Basavesha narrowly escaped what authorities describe as a “life-threatening situation.” In response, security has been tightened around MLA Sangameshwar’s residence.

Shivamogga Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar addressed the media, stating, “An FIR has been registered… Investigation has already begun and one accused has been arrested. We are investigating from all angles, including examining calls made from the jail.”
